Castle of Roccabianca
The castle was built by the Magnificent Pier Maria Rossi for his beloved Bianca Pellegrini in the mid-15th century. On his death, it passed to the Pallavicino family and, later, to the Rangoni. In 1831 it was taken from the Ducal Chamber by Maria Louisa of Austria. The keep and two pointed towers stand above the mighty quadrilateral structure. Recent restoration works (Sala dei Feudi, dei Paesaggi, dei Quattro Elementi, Sala Rangoni) have brought to light stuccoes and valuable fresco decor and heraldic coats of arms in the portico in front of the celebrated Sala di Griselda, which contains the modern reconstruction of the 15th century cycle of paintings inspired by the hundredth tale by Boccaccio.

PATH OF VISIT: Ground floor: Portico of honour with painted coats of arms (XV century); Griselda's Room with painted cycle inspired by the hundredth novella of Boccaccio's Decameron (copies from XV century); three rooms with paintings and furniture from the XVI to the XVIII centuries: Room of the Fiefs, Landscapes and the Four Elements; Cellar of the Keep (cured meats being seasoned); Tower of the Keep; Room of the Tuns; Rangoni Room with stuccoes and paintings (XVI-XVII centuries); underground cellars (production and maturing of balsamic vinegar in oak casks); tasting room; the distillery museum. Noble Floor: four furnished rooms including the fireplace room (formerly a theatre).
